Here are some answers to common questions:

How do we book you?
We can meet in person (usually at a coffee shop convenient for you) to discuss what you are looking for, sign your contract and put down a 50% deposit to guarantee your booking.

When do we need to pay the remainder of the wedding package price?
The remainder of the wedding package price is due a minimum of 24 hours or more prior to the Wedding Date. I ask this to be paid before the date because I don't like having to interrupt your special day to get payment. I'd rather just give you a big hug and say Congrats before I head out.

Can you hold our date for us?
I can't guarantee your date until the contract and deposit have been signed and put down.

If our wedding is cancelled, do we get our deposit back?
Unfortunately no, the deposit is non refundable. Once the deposit is paid I will turn down other bookings for that date.

Can we keep the high resolution negatives?
Yes. You get to download and keep your edited high-resolution digital files . You will be able to print and share these photos as much as you would like. I will retain rights over the images for studio and commercial use. This only includes the photographers finished photos and not the original RAW images.

If we decide to hire you, how far in advance should we book you?
Photographers are usually one of the first vendors to be booked for a wedding. 10-18 months in advance is best.

What type of photography do you do?
I tend to take a journalistic approach but leave time and room for specific shots that need a little more organizing. I like to portray the personality of my clients in my work, so each wedding is different. Whether you are really outgoing and love to laugh or are more serious and romantic, it's going to show in your photographs.

Can we make suggestions on how we want our photos?
Absolutely. Through your engagement session and our wedding planning together, we will get to know each other well and I will have a very good understanding of what is most important to you. I will also send out a questionnaire before the wedding to include requested photos.

Do you have backup equipment?
Yes. During a wedding there are no second chances to create a moment, so I have backup equipment ready to go at all times.

Can our friends and family take photos during the wedding?
Of course. They can certainly take photos. It's a good idea to ask them not to use flash however, as this can interfere with my photographs. Also, some Bride & Grooms are choosing to have an "unplugged" wedding ceremony, which means they ask guests to sit back and enjoy the ceremony to allow for a quieter and more focused atmosphere.

What happens if the weather is terrible on our wedding day?
I always suggest to have a few suitable indoor locations planned in case of bad weather. If there was something special planned for outdoor photos that we were unable to do because of bad weather, I will gladly schedule the Bride & Groom for a 1 Hour Rainy Day Re-shoot shortly after your wedding, no extra charge.

When will we get to see our photos?
I guarantee you will have your photos within 60 days of your wedding, however it is usually around 30. I will also post a few little sneak peeks shortly after your big day.

Photo Shoot Prep

My clients often ask me "what should we wear?" when preparing for a photo shoot, so I thought I would put together a few things to keep in mind.

What are you doing with the photos? If you plan to print and hang an enlarged photo on your mantle at home, you may want to consider wearing something that would compliment the colors in the room.

If you will be doing photos with a group, try and wear complimentary colors but don't match.  A good example of complimentary colors can be seen here.

Avoid large logos and intense patterns, as this can overwhelm the photograph. Also avoid wearing really bright colors. If you are wearing a bright pink shirt for example, it can reflect that color on the other person in the photograph if you are really close to one another.

Aside from that, it is important to be comfortable and to wear something that you feel like yourself in. If you feel comfortable and confident, it will show in the photos.
